How do you tell a compelling Bible story to young children? How do you conduct parent-teacher conferences? What can I do with social media at the school? We explored these topics during our inspiration day on June 11th. Educational professionals from across the board, from Borsele to Kampen, gathered to be inspired by the speakers and to engage in conversation. This provided our staff with tools to ensure children have a wonderful time at our Christian Reformed childcare center.
'A lot from a little' – Laura Zwoferink
"A lot from a little" is the motto of Laura Zwoferink, author of the Kijk en Luister children's Bibles. During her keynote session and workshop, she explained that it's important for young children to focus on a single story and to incorporate it in various ways. She also encouraged educational professionals to primarily narrate the story themselves, rather than reading aloud. This fosters more interaction with children and creates a lively narrative.
Respect, openness and trust – Elsbeth Schouten
A good relationship with parents is crucial in childcare. Elsbeth Schouten explained more about parent-teacher conferences in her workshop. Respect, openness, and trust are key elements in these conversations.
Show what you do – Gaily Scholten
Showcase your work with engaging content. Childcare is a rewarding profession, and that deserves to be seen, including through social media. Using engaging examples, Gaily Scholten offered tips on how staff can create and share content with parents and other followers.
That day, we visited Driestar Educatief in Gouda. A beautiful location with expertise in education and childcare. We'd like to thank guest speakers Laura Zwoferink and Elsbeth Schouten of Driestar Educatief and Gaily Scholten of Kibeo for the inspiring workshops.
